Ozarks region markedly busy over Labor Day weekend

The Lake of the Ozarks has reportedly seen its largest spike in visitors to the region in nearly 20 years over the Labor Day holiday, the high volume of out-of-towners due largely to urban restrictions caused by COVID-19.

The Ozarks saw a strong burst of business and overall activity this Labor Day weekend, the wave of activity due largely to COVID-19 and restrictions in the region and nationwide.

Out-of-towners in Missouri and the surrounding area, including visitors from out-of-state, sought a break from urban areas where COVID-19 rules have reportedly been more relaxed.

With the high volume of visitors came an economic boost for the Ozark region, nearby businesses reporting record high crowds over Labor Day weekend compared to the last two decades, reports KMIZ News.

Despite COVID-19, there was no shortage in customers, KMIZ reporting the influx of visitors caused the local economy to boom for one of the first times since the pandemic started.

Four different counties in Missouri encompass what is known as the Lake of the Ozarks including Camden, Miller, Morgan and Benton counties.
