Overland Park noted among Top 5 best U.S. cities to live in



A recent study by ranking and review site Niche has placed Overland Park, Kan. among the top nationwide in the “Best Cities to Live” category. The report took into account cost of living, safety, public school rankings and more. This is a bump up from 2020, when the city ranked No. 6.

Niche has released its 2021 Best Places to Live rankings, and Overland Park has puts its stamp all over the rankings.

In the “Best Cities to Live” category, the suburban Kansas City community ranked fourth out of the 231 cities with a population of 100,000 or more that were evaluated. Kansas City, Missouri, came in at 60th while Kansas City, Kansas, placed 162nd.

The Pittsburgh-based research group ranked Overland Park as its No. 6 city in 2020 and its No. 7 city in 2019.

The Woodlands, Texas, topped the best cities to live category in 2021. Arlington, Virginia, ranked second. Naperville, Illinois, was third. Cambridge, Massachusetts, rounded out the top five.

In the broader “Best Places to Live” category, several Overland Park neighborhoods ranked in the top 50. Beverly Estates ranked 25th; Pinehurst Estates, 39th; and Cherry Hill Estates, 42nd. Niche defined neighborhoods as places within a city with a population of at least 1,000 people.

Overland Park also ranked No. 1 in the “Best Cities to Buy a House” category. Niche gave the Johnson County city of about 191,000 residents an A-plus in the categories of public schools and good for families; an A in housing, jobs and health and fitness; and an A-minus in nightlife, diversity and outdoor activities.
