Overland Park-based George King Bio-Medical, Inc., a provider of diagnostic products used in laboratories, has been acquired by Precision BioLogic, a medical equipment manufacturer.
Headquartered in Nova Scotia, Canada, Precision BioLogic develops, manufactures and markets clinical laboratory products used for the assessment of blood coagulation disorders. George King Bio-Medical also specializes in hemostasis diagnostic products for the bleeding disorders community, making this a strategic acquisition that expands Precision BioLogic’s portfolio of bleeding disorders research.
“Our two organizations share a similar purpose,” President and CEO of Precision BioLogic, Paul Empey, said in a release. “Together, we can continue to work with existing customers and partners while exploring new opportunities to help others in the bleeding disorders community.”
George King Bio-Medical will continue to operate under the same name under the Precision BioLogic umbrella.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Joining forces with Precision BioLogic enables us to continue our legacy of compassion and innovation,” President and CEO of George King Bio-Medical, Kathryn Blasco, said in the release. “The future looks promising for us and our customers.”
Founded in 1973 by George King, George King Bio-Medical was based in Salem, New Hampshire, before relocating to Overland Park in 1978. Blasco is the daughter of King. The company offers high-quality, fresh-frozen human plasma for clinical laboratories, as well as a plasma donor program.
