Olathe-based Terracon expands services with acquisition

The employee-owned consulting engineering firm has closed its 11th acquisition in four years, further expanding from its metro headquarters with the buy of Virginia-based TAM Consultants Inc. The acquisition will add to Terracon’s 5,000 employees nationwide.

Olathe-based Terracon Consultants Inc. acquired a Williamsburg, Va., company with 15 employees that will expand the engineering firm’s reach in Virginia and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

TAM Consultants Inc., which also has offices in Newport News and Richmond, Va., offers structural engineering, building enclosure consulting, property condition assessments, forensic and investigative engineering, roof consulting, project management and a variety of building testing services.

“Becoming part of Terracon is an exciting next step in TAM’s mission to continue to provide outstanding service to our clients,” TAM founder and CEO Timothy Mills said in a Monday release. “This merger allows TAM to bring an even broader range of consulting engineering services to our clients and the region, drawing on Terracon’s national presence and resources, and offers new career development opportunities for our team.”

As with past acquisitions, the company will keep its brand and now will be called TAM Consultants Inc., a Terracon company.
