Northpoint sells logistics center to General Motors



NorthPoint Development has sold one of its logistics centers to General Motors. The deed to 1.26 million-square-feet making up the Arlington Automotive Logistics Center went to the multinational corporation for $250 million.

Automaker General Motors now owns the deed to the 1.26 million-square-foot Arlington Automotive Logistics Center, according to Tarrant County deed records.

The two-building property, built on the site of the former Six Flags Mall in Arlington, was part of a $250 million redevelopment by GM and Missouri-based NorthPoint Development back in 2017. Completed in 2018, the project was designed to increase efficiency and productivity of GM ‘s Arlington Assembly Plant by moving its suppliers closer and reducing logistics costs.

GM’s assembly plant, which makes Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, the GMC Yukon and the Cadillac Escalade, is located just across Highway 360 from the Arlington Automotive Logistics Center. At the time of its groundbreaking, the logistics center was expected to employ 1,800 people by the time it was completed.

The Detroit-based automaker GM (NYSE: GM) now owns the deed to the 80.5-acre property at the corner of Highway 360 and E. Division Street. The deed had previously been held by the project’s developer NorthPoint Development. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
