Nodaway Valley Bank has broken ground on a 4,000-square-foot full-service bank in Smithville.

The new permanent bank will be located on the southeast corner of N. 169 Highway and Commercial Street in Smithville.

Founded in 1868 and headquartered in Maryville, Nodaway Valley Bank operates ten locations across Missouri and a lending office that opened in 2023. The bank first crossed a total assets milestone of $1 billion in 2020 and had over $1.4 billion in assets as of January.

The building is being designed by the Kansas City-based architectural firm Gastinger & Walker. A four-lane drive-up ATM service will also be available at the location. Construction is expected to take 9 months, according to a release Thursday.

“We are gratified by the number of new banking relationships we’ve been able to cultivate in the KC Northland,” Chairman & CEO, James Robinson, said in the release. “Besides its convenience, we hope this building will affirm our long-term commitment to Smithville and the entire Northland market.”
