NKC Health president and CEO, Dr. Stephen Reintjes Sr., has been selected by the Missouri Hospital Association for the role of chair for its 2026 Board of Trustees.

Reintjes’ one-year term began on January 1. The Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) appointed him to his new role as chair. Reintjes has been a member of the MHA Board of Trustees since 2020.

“It is an honor to serve as chair of an association that is making a meaningful impact across our state and nation,” Reintjes said in a release. “I look forward to the progress we will achieve this year as we work to better serve our communities and advance our vision for healthcare.”

In his new role as chair, Reintjes will oversee the board, advise the association on daily matters and represent Missouri hospitals before state and federal lawmakers. He will also lead the Missouri delegation to Washington, D.C. and serve as a spokesperson for hospitals across the state, according to the release.

Reintjes will work closely with the MHA to develop a new three-year strategic plan to create a system that helps hospitals thrive.

Based in Jefferson City, the MHA is a non-profit that represents 137 hospitals across the state, advocates for members, provides continuing education and informs the public about key health issues. In November, MHA honored NKC Health with the 2025 Aim for Excellence Award for its outstanding clinical outcomes.

“We’re excited to have Dr. Reintjes leading the board in 2026,” MHA President and CEO Jon Doolittle said. “As a physician executive, he provides the board with insights that shape both operational and patient care elements of policy that support hospitals’ service in
Missouri’s communities.”

Reintjes has been a member of the NKC Health medical staff for over 35 years. NKC has more than 4,700 staff members, including over 600 dedicated physicians, along with specialists and caregivers across 35 locations.
