Emporia-based Hopkins Manufacturing Corporation will open a distribution center in Edgerton in June of this year. The facility will be located in the Inland Port VIII at the Logistics Park, next to the BNSF Intermodal Facility. The first shipments from the center are expected to start shortly after the facility opens.
“We have begun hiring employees for the facility, which is expected to reach over 100 team members,” said David Moore, Senior Vice President of Hopkins. “People that are looking to be a part of a dynamic Kansas based organization that values a culture based on ethics, caring and competence are encouraged to apply for consideration,” added Mr. Moore. Hopkins was founded in 1953 in Emporia, Kansas and will celebrate its 65th anniversary in 2018. It has grown into one of the largest automotive and RV aftermarket suppliers through acquisition and organic growth. The automotive aftermarket is among the largest, growing industries in the US, employing 4.6m people. The new facility will accommodate Hopkins’ current growth and provide capacity to support its additional planned growth. Products currently being distributed from the Hopkins Carson, CA, Urbandale, IA and a portion of the distribution from the Emporia, KS facility will be distributed from Edgerton. This includes products from Hopkins’ North American manufacturing facilities in Emporia, KS, Miami, OK, Tarpon Springs, FL, Juarez, Mexico and Blenheim, Ontario Canada.
