The Lown Institute has released its 2023 list of America’s most socially responsible hospitals in the two-state area.

The Lown Hospitals Index measures social responsibility as a composite of performance on equity, value, and outcomes.

On the Kansas side, the most socially responsible facility was the University of Kansas Health System, Bell Hospital Tower. The hospital also received a ranking of 149 out of more than 3,600 hospitals surveyed.

Next is Missouri, the winner goes to Progress West Hospital, located in the city of O’Fallen, which also received a ranking of 34 claiming a spot among the top 54 hospitals with straight “A” grades in all three measured categories.

For reference, the number one ranked hospital was Duke Regional Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
