McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., has assembled an executive leadership team for its Kansas City office, who together make up a combined 70 years of construction industry experience.
Joe Lewandowski, recently promoted to vice president and business unit lead, will also serve as head of McCarthy’s Kansas City office, according to a release. The office is located at 7930 Santa Fe Drive in Overland Park. Joining Lewandowski are the director of business development, Jeff Bennett and the vice president of preconstruction, Brad Schoen.
“We are excited about this new regional leadership team in Kansas City, where we have been building for more than 35 years before establishing a permanent office in 2013,” CEO of McCarthy’s Central Region, Ryan Sawall, said in the release. “Since then, our local team has grown to more than 100 employee-owners, delivering a wide range of impactful projects ranging from hospitals and medical office buildings to high-performance laboratories, industrial facilities, and major water infrastructure.”
As vice president and business unit lead, Lewandowski will work to establish real value for clients across a wide range of innovative construction practices. Lewandowski first joined McCarthy in 2005 when he served as project director for the 660,000-square-foot Plaza West Tower at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, as part of the BJC Campus Renewal Project in St. Louis.

With over 30 years of industry experience, Bennett joined the Kansas City office team as the director of business development. Bennett has held this position at McCarthy for over five years. He will work to drive client partnership and opportunities in the Kansas City market. Before joining McCarthy in 2019, he served as the vice president of business development at McCownGordon.

Schoen originally joined McCarthy in 2006 as a preconstruction manager. As vice president of preconstruction, he will lead all facets of the team’s preconstruction efforts to ensure projects receive seamless, client-focused services during the design phase.

“This is an exciting new time for our Kansas City office and this expanded leadership team will play a pivotal role in advancing McCarthy’s commitment to innovative construction practices such as offsite prefabrication, self-perform capabilities and collaborative project delivery methods,” Sawall said.
