Year-over-year passenger traffic in March was down 52.8 percent, according to the KC Aviation Department, as 480,690 passengers arrived and departed from the facility during the month.
Passenger boardings dropped 55.2 percent, to 227,860, while year-to-date boardings fell 21.4 percent.
Meanwhile, air cargo traffic was down by 5.8 percent.
“The pandemic has hit the airline industry hard worldwide, as Stay-at-Home Orders and health concerns are keeping people from flying,” Pat Klein, director of aviation, said in a press release. “While passenger figures are way down, the airport is still open should people need to travel. The entire airport team is striving to make the experience as safe as possible. We are here at the ready.”
