Manufacturers Called to War on COVID-19

By Dennis Boone

Beyond the now-familiar concepts of stay-at-home directives, social distancing and more deliberate personal care, the war on COVID-19 continues to expand on another front: manufacturing.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has called on manufacturers to help produce personal protective equipment to keep Missouri’s health-care workers safe in the front-lines fight against COVID-19. To that end, the state’s Department of Economic Development is recruiting companies for a webinar.

The goal, the department said in a news release this morning, is to learn more about how manufacturers and suppliers can connect with the health-care facilities across the state. The one-hour webinar is set for 3:30 p.m., and interested companies can register here.

The need for replenishment of PPE stock for health-care providers is becoming more critical; just this morning, AdventHealth Foundation Shawnee Mission issued an public appeal for donations of equipment (which can be done here) or cash to help the medical center secure more of it. Cash donations can be submitted here.
