Two of the biggest retail trade organizations are calling on governors to have a “mutually agreed upon blueprint” for reopening stores.
The National Retail Federation and the Retail Industry Leaders Association are asking for states to follow CDC guidelines and outlined a phased plan for reopening.
Phase one would allow for e-commerce, home delivery and curbside pickup, while phase two would allow for reopening stores taking social distancing and maximum occupancy into consideration.
The associations say that though grocery stores and pharmacies have remained open during COVID-19, about one million retail workers have been furoughed.
