Olathe Medical Center announced today it will be undergoing the largest expansion in its history. Four significant construction projects will be underway this year across OMC’s 250-acre campus: a new four-story obstetrics wing with a Level II neonatal intensive care unit that will transform the face of OMC. The expansion will include a free-standing cancer center, the addition of a memory care neighborhood at Cedar Lake Village and an expanded cardiovascular center.
The total campus projects beginning in 2015 will exceed 200,000 square feet with a cost of more than $100 million in construction and equipment. The expanded services will result in the addition of more than 200 new jobs.
“OMC is at a pivotal moment in its history,” Frank H. Devocelle, President/CEO, said. “We are focused on expanding services to meet our service area needs with emphasis on maintaining a high level of quality care and customer service.”
OMC also opened its Hospice House in late October, 2014. Staff, physicians and volunteers at the first free-standing, in-patient hospice facility on the Kansas side of the metropolitan area have already cared for more than 60 patients and their families.
