Macy’s is shuttering over 60 locations across the U.S. including its retail store in the Metro North Crossing.

The store closures are part of a plan to return the company to sustainable, profitable sales growth by closing approximately 150 “underproductive” stores over three years while also investing in its 350 locations — which will remain in business — through fiscal 2026.

Macy’s announced 66 store locations will close, according to a release. A majority of the locations are expected to close during Q1 2025.

The location at the Metro North Crossing shopping center is the only Kansas City metro store that will close. Macy’s still operates two other retail locations at Town Center Plaza in Leawood and Oak Park Mall in Overland Park. In addition to the Metro North Crossing store closing, a Macy’s in St. Louis is also a part of the 66 closures announced.
