A pre-demolition inspection was conducted on Tuesday at the now-vacant building at 1600 Broadway in downtown Kansas City. Owned by Copaken Brooks, the commercial real estate agency lists the 0.24-acre site as available for numerous redevelopment possibilities.

The now-empty building located at a highly-visible corner on Broadway in downtown Kansas City will soon see demolition day.

Constructed in 1971, the 30-year-old-building once home to a Denny’s restaurant was vacated in November 2020.

On Tuesday, March 23, a pre-demolition inspection was conducted on the property after a demolition permit was filed last Friday.

Copaken Brooks maintains the redevelopment rights to the two blocks immediately west of Broadway and contiguous to the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, from Truman Road to 17th Street.

Sitting on 0.24-acres, the 3,392-square-foot building owned by local commercial real estate agency Copaken Brooks will soon become flat ground.

On Copaken’s website, the company notes the property as, “primed for numerous redevelopment possibilities.”
