Liberty Hospital experienced an “information technology event” that caused Kansas City area emergency services to help the hospital transport patients to new healthcare facilities.
Staff provided care for patients while following standard protocols amidst the event that caused the whole hospital’s computer system to shutdown.
The hospital is currently urging people to seek emergency care at other hospital emergency departments.
The hospital has yet to make a statement on when the facility will resume operations. The hospital said people can expect an update by 9 a.m. Wednesday, Fox 4 reported Tuesday evening.
The Kansas City Fire Department has transferred 15 patients to other healthcare providers. The cause of the IT event has not been disclosed at this time.
“Patient safety remains our utmost concern. We are in the process of evaluating every patient to ensure they receive the highest quality of care and to determine next steps, which may include transfer to another facility,” the hospital stated in a release.
