Lenexa Health Testing Laboratory Gets Acquired

Heartland Health Laboratory, a provider of lab services for senior care facilities in the Midwest, has been acquired by a Houston-based lab testing company.

Established in 2004, Heartland Health Laboratory is a full-service laboratory that offers chemistry, therapeutic drug monitoring, coagulation, immunochemistry, microbiology, hematology, urinalysis and polymerase chain reaction testing. Heartland’s lab facility is located in Lenexa, Kansas.

Heartland Health Laboratory will integrate with Principle Health Systems’ (PHS) network, allowing expanded and enhanced service care throughout the region, according to a release.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The acquisition of Heartland Health Laboratory and their long history of being the dominant diagnostic company in the region is an exciting development for Principle Health Systems,” CEO of Principle Health Systems, James Dieter, said in the release. “We are committed to strengthening Heartland Health Laboratory by investing in its team, technology, and operations. We aim to enhance the services provided to patients and providers and foster a thriving work environment for the Heartland team.”

PHS is a mobile laboratory and imaging service provider for long-term care facilities. The laboratory has locations ranging from Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Rio Grande Valley and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. With over 500 employees across its labs, PHS conducts over 2 million tests annually, according to its website.
