Legends Outlets to potentially see multifamily development

A developer is seeking further approval for a proposed multifamily apartment project at the Legends Outlets. The project passed initial approval from the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan., and now awaits a vote from its Board of Commissioners.

People could live at the Legends Outlets if officials approve a new eight-story multifamily development there.

The building would be built on top of a new parking garage along Parallel Parkway, according to The Kansas City Star. The project won initial approval from the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan.. The Board of Commissioners will decide this month whether the development moves forward.

Rent for the 267 apartments would range from $1,000 to $1,600 per month, The Star reports. The development would be 510,000 square feet and sit on top of a 620-space garage.

Legends 267 LLC would own the apartments, The Star reports. Riverside-based Luke Draily Construction has helped plan the project, and Kansas City-based Beck Cal Development is helping to build it.

“Kind of picture maybe a Two Light downtown except a little bit of a smaller version of that,” said Bob Becker, founder and president of Luke Draily Construction.

A similar development was proposed in 2015 but later fell through.
