Latest acquisition delivers $5B to Creative Planning



Overland Park-based Creative Planning has acquired North Carolina financial advisory company Sullivan Bruyette Speros & Blayney LLC. With the deal, Creative adds $5 billion in assets under management. This is Creative’s second largest transaction in the company’s history.

Overland Park-headquartered Creative Planning Inc.’s latest acquisition adds $5 billion in assets, the second-largest deal in the company’s history.

Creative Planning made eight acquisitions in all of 2020, adding $4.92 billion in assets.

Founded in 1991, SBSB has 62 employees and offices in McLean and Raleigh, North Carolina, boosting Creative Planning’s presence in those cities.

Creative Planning provides financial planning, retirement planning, estate planning, trust services, tax advice and family office services for individuals as well as 401(k) and institutional money management. The company manages more than $76 billion in assets in all 50 states and overseas.

Creative Planning started 2020 with about $48 billion in assets and ended the year with $69 billion, up 43.8 percent for the year. That growth includes more than $16 billion in market action gains and organic client growth.
