KU Hospital, Saint Luke’s, Children’s Mercy Recognized

Less than two miles separate the main campuses of the University of Kansas Hospital and Saint Luke’s flagship medical center near the Country Club Plaza. Which means, according to the editors of U.S. News and World Report, that residents of Midtown sit smack dab between the two best hospitals in the metro area.

The magazine’s annual rankings placed KU Hospital as the No. 1-ranked hospital in Kansas and tops in the region, and Saint Luke’s as the No. 2 facility in Missouri, ranking only behind the venerable Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis (which tied for No. 11 nationwide).

Each of the Kansas City sites also scored well among rankings in various medical specialties, with KU Hospital scoring in the top 25 in nine adult specialties and Saint Luke’s in three. Among pediatric hospitals, Children’s Mercy Kansas City boasted national rankings in 10 specialties.
