KU Health System Recognized in America’s Most Innovative Companies

Fortune’s 2024 list of America’s Most Innovative Companies features more healthcare companies this year than ever before, including The University of Kansas Health System.

The University of Kansas Health System ranked No. 76 on the list this year. Last year, the health system ranked in the No. 71 spot, however, the 2024 list has been changed to feature fewer companies. The 2024 list was shortened from 300 companies to just 200.

Additionally, the list contains 44 healthcare companies and 21 health systems, thats more healthcare companies recognized compared to 2023.

Rankings were based on three factors such as product innovation, process innovation and innovation culture. All three indicators were weighted equally in the rankings.

The University of Kansas Health System took the No. 1 spot in Top Area Hospitals & Medical Centers (ranked by admissions) and No. 1 in Top Area Hospitals & Medical Centers (ranked by gross revenue) in Ingram’s Power Book 2024 edition.

The health system took 43,866 admissions in 2022 and generated $12.23 billion in gross revenue that same year. The system employs over 12,000 full-time employees with 965 physicians and 3,449 nurses.
