A Nurse Satisfaction Index recently published has ranked The University of Kansas Health System most notably in organizational support and a healthy workplace environment.
The MIT Sloan Management Review published the Nursing Satisfaction Index, a report for nurses in 200 of the nation’s largest healthcare employers to rate their work environment.
Out of the 200 employers, 146 were hospitals.
The index data was gathered from nurses since the COVID-19 pandemic through June 2023. Data is based on an analysis of 150,000 Glassdoor reviews, of which, 121 reviews came from nurses working with the The University of Kansas Health System.
Out of the 146 hospitals, The University of Kansas Health System ranked No. 11 in overall rankings with a rating of 1.1 on the index. A ranking of 0.0 is neutral.
For comparison, Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine and Texas-based Houston Methodist tied for the top spot with an overall ranking of 1.7. The lowest ranking hospital is Tennessee-based Ballad Health with an overall ranking of -2.7.
The top four factors driving overall satisfaction are toxic culture, organizational support, compensation and workload.
The University of Kansas Health System nurses ranked their employer high in positive workplace culture with a ranking of 1.0; organizational support received 1.1; workload received a 0.5. However, the lowest ranking the health system received was in the category of compensation which received a ranking of -0.3.
