KU Health COVID patient count down to 16 with the active virus



The University of Kansas Health System continues to see a steady decrease in active COVID-19 patients, reporting 16 on Monday, a drop from 23 patients on Friday, Feb. 26. In total, the health system says it has 48 total COVID-19 patients, down from 70 early last week.

Another big drop in the number of COVID-19 patients at The University of Kansas Health System today.

Sixteen people with the active virus are being treated, down from 23 Friday. Of those patients, five are in the ICU, down from ten Friday. Two of those ICU patients are on ventilators today, the same as Friday.

Thirty-two other patients are still hospitalized because of COVID-19 but are out of the acute infection phase, same as Friday. That’s a total of 48 patients, down from 55 Friday and 70 early last week.

In addition, HaysMed has a total of 14 COVID-19 inpatients, up from 13 Friday, with eight of those active patients and six in the recovery phase.

Doctors noted they have not seen numbers this low since last summer, and credit better behavior for the decline.
