The University of Kansas announced that construction has begun for phase two of renovations for Allen Fieldhouse ahead of the its 70th season.
Phase one of the $50 million renovation plan took place in March 2023, before last year’s season, and this year will share a similar schedule, according to a KU Athletics release. The renovations will give fans “a reimagined experience” of the iconic facility.
Renovations include 1,100 chairback seats added on the west side of the Fieldhouse. Previously, the building featured more seats with a capacity of 16,300, however, the new capacity will be 15,300. Additionally, corner videoboards and additional ADA seating have been added.
A new vendor, OVG, will offer a new chef-inspired menu to premium areas such as The Naismith Room, Banner’s, the Crimson Club and Horejsi Mezzanine space, according to the release. The Crimson Club, formally the donor atrium, has also been renovated featuring expanded capacity and will connect to the concourse of the venue.
