The second phase of Kansas’ reopening plan, which would allow more consumer access to businesses, is set to start on Friday.
Gov. Laura Kelly modified the order, saying that the reason for the change is due to the slowing number of COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations in the state.
Mass gatherings are restricted to 15 people up from 10 in the prior phase, known as 1.5. Casinos may reopen in the state, but bars, nightclubs and pools are still restricted.
A third phase, which includes gatherings of 45 people, is expected to be approved by Kelly on June 8.
