KS COVID-19 Bill Passes House

A bill that would restrict the powers that Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly has to limit the reopening of businesses in the fall and winter if there is another COVID-19 outbreak has been passed by the Kansas House of Representatives.

Though it restricts her powers, Kelly says she supports the bill.

“Today, in spite of their disagreements, they put the interests of Kansans ahead of politics,” Kelly said in a statement. “I urge the Senate to swiftly follow their lead, so that we can get Kansas families, businesses and communities the resources they need.”

Earlier this month, Kelly gave reopening powers to individual counties and municipalities.
