KDOL Sheds Light of 56 High-Demand, High-Wage Jobs

The Kansas Department of Labor released its Today’s Occupation report which provides a list of the most in-demand and highest-paying jobs that don’t require a bachelor’s degree.

A total of 56 occupations populated the list with 30 of those jobs beginning with an entry-level position starting at $18 per hour, according to the report.

Only 16 of the listed jobs typically require more than a high school diploma with eight requiring an associate degree.

The five highest estimated entry-level hourly wages include:

  • Transportation, storage and distribution managers ($35.48)
  • Dental hygienists ($32.41)
  • Diagnostic medical sonographers ($32.38)
  • Farmers, ranchers and other agricultural managers ($27.13)
  • Respiratory therapists ($25.84)

From 2020 through 2030, heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers are expected to record an estimated 2,643 openings annually per year in Kansas. Three other jobs including sales representatives, supervisors of retail sales and supervisors of office and administrative support workers are expected to have over 1,000 openings per year with wages over $14 per hour.
