Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas has extended the city’s stay-at-home order until May 15, after being advised to do so by public health officials.
The previous stay-at-home order was issued in March and set to expire on April 24.
Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly extended the state’s order from April 19 to May 3, while Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has a current order in effect until April 24, but he might extend the order later today during is daily COVID-19 briefing.
Lucas said that he will keep the stay-at-home order in place until despite the governors’ actions. They city’s urban nature makes it necessary.
“Kansas City is different that Fulton,” he told KCUR. “It’s different than Hutchinson.”
