KCMO’s Reopening Plans Might be Delayed

Kansas City’s reopening plan for restaurants and others businesses might be delayed due to a COVID-19 outbreak at the Triumph Foods plant in St. Jospeh, which employees several KC residents, as well as another one at the McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff senior living facility, in the Northland.

The city was going to set further guidance to businesses today for a first wave of reopenings today, but Mayor Quinton Lucas said in a news conference that he was uncertain if the city’s health department would be able to release that guidance given the uptick in cases.

The move leaves restaurants and other closed businesses in the lurch while they try to regain business lost during the pandemic. Reopening was going to take place next Friday.
