Another lawsuit has emerged related to a gun trafficking scheme by former KC Fire Department Capt. James Samuels.
The City of Kansas City, Mo. has filed a suit against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The federal agency is being sued for its decision to a grant a license to gun manufucaturer, JA Industries, which had previously been sued by Kansas City for contributing to the sheme.
The city, along with the state of Illinois and Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, is suing the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for its decision to grant a license to JA Industries, The Kansas City Star reports. The city previously sued Jimenez Arms, alleging its cheap handguns contributed to gun trafficking. Jimenez filed for bankruptcy and shut down, only to come back with a slightly different name.
The city previously sued Jimenez Arms for its alleged participation in a gun trafficking scheme by former KC Fire Department Capt. James Samuels. In August, Samuels pleaded guilty to charges claiming he sold 77 guns over a five-year period, including to convicted felons. Of the 77 guns sold, 43 were Jimenez pistols.
