The Kansas City, Kansas-based nonprofit Unbound announced Ashley Hufft as the next president and chief executive officer and is the first woman to lead the organization.
Hufft is now tasked with leading Unbound’s strategic vision for growth and ensuring the long-term success of the organization’s mission to usher poor and marginalized groups out of poverty.
She has a background in corporate law, receiving her degree from Harvard University. Before joining Unbound, she worked on large-scale development projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Hufft has been working as interim CEO at Unbound since August 2023, according to a release.
“For over 40 years, we have been innovating our programs and I believe we now have one of the best models in international development, supporting families as they chart their own paths out of poverty,” Hufft said in the release. “I look forward to building on the momentum from Unbound’s historic 1 million sponsored friends and charting the trajectory for us to reach the next 1 million families at an accelerated pace. In these challenging times, the world needs Unbound.”
Unbound is an international nonprofit that delivers more than $100 million in personalized support annually for children, elders and their families living in poverty in Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Unbound took the No. 5 spot on Ingram’s Top Area Nonprofit Organizations ranked by gross revenue. The organization made $145 million in revenue in 2021.
