The Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department has a new chief: Mike Callahan. Unified Government County Administrator Doug Bach made the announcement this morning.
Callahan comes to KCK from the Chicago Fire Department where he served as the Deputy Fire Commissioner. He replaces John Paul Jones who retired this year after more than a decade as chief. Callahan has worked as a firefighter since 1980 and comes from a department that is the second largest fire department in the country.
“I believe Chief Callahan is an excellent fit our department. He has extensive experience in fire operations and medical transport, not to mention a manager with a reputation for efficiency and leadership among his fellow commanders. I am very excited to make him part of our team,” said County Administrator Doug Bach.
