Kansas City’s new Ferris wheel site, KC Wheel at Pennway Point, has failed an inspection for one of its buildings. An opening date for the entertainment district is still up in the air as the site has already been delayed once.
On Tuesday, KC Wheel developers, ICON Experiences clarified that the failed inspection was for teh KC Wheel House building, not the Ferris wheel itself. Wheel House is intended for food and beverage service at Pennyway Point.
Developers planned to open around Thanksgiving, however, that opening window was closed in late November and pushed to sometime in mid-December before Christmas. An official opening date has still yet to be announced by ICON.
“The KC Wheel at Pennway Point has passed inspection from the state of Missouri and Kansas City. The wheel has been issued a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy, which allows it to be operational,” an ICON spokesperson told Fox 4 on Tuesday.
