The Kansas City Current announced the club has appointed 17-year sports industry veteran Raven Jemison as the team president.
Jemison has worked in all four major North American team sports. Before joining the club, Jemison spent three years as the executive vice president of business operations for the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks.
She replaces Allison Howard, who served as the team president for the past two seasons, who moved to a new position as Advisor to the Board for the Kansas City Current.
She began her career in sports as a client services manager for the NHL’s Florida Panthers, then worked four years with the MLB’s Pittsburgh Pirates and an additional year with the NFL’s San Fransisco 49ers.
“They have a vision and desire to make this the best women’s football club in the world and they are willing to invest what it takes to make that happen,” Jemison said in a release. “I am so excited by the opportunity to utilize my experiences to build this club at a time when both it and the league are already on the rise.”
The KC Current is developing its $117 million CPKC stadium, which has already sold out its season tickets for 2024. The club is also partnering with the Port Authority of Kansas City for an $800 million agreement to develop approximately 10 acres of land adjacent to Berkley Riverfront Park.
