Kansas employment is expected to decline by 10.2 percent, according to a report by the Center for Economic Development and Business Research, based in Wichita.
That decline would mean a contraction of about 140,000 jobs, most of the losses taking place in the second quarter.
Goods-producing jobs are the most impacted, with a 14.7-percent drop, while trade, transportation and utilities are forecast to fall 13.3 percent, led by the retail industry. The center says that retail sales are expected to fall in excess of 20 percent.
