CVS Health to bring influx of jobs to KC metro

A nationwide hiring splurge by the American healthcare company will bring roughly 500 new jobs to the metro. The company plans to host three hiring events in November and December as it looks to fill customer service and technician positions, among others.

According to a company spokesman, the retail pharmacy and health care company is preparing for the peak flu season and a new wave of Covid-19 cases by hiring 15,000 people nationwide.

In a Monday release, the company said it’s looking to fill several thousand work-from-home customer service representatives, including many in the Kansas City market, for its CVS Caremark and CVS Specialty pharmacy businesses.

Nationally, more than two-thirds of the new roles will be for licensed pharmacy technicians, but the company also is recruiting for pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, member benefit case professionals and distribution center employees.

“Additional team members typically are needed every flu season,” Lisa Bisaccia, chief human resources officer for CVS Health, said in the release. “However, we’re estimating a much greater need for trained pharmacy technicians this year given the continued presence of Covid-19 in our communities.”

In July, the company announced a separate 200-person hiring push for its 762,000-square-foot Kansas City distribution center at 10711 N. Congress Ave.

CVS plans to host three virtual hiring events to fill the 500 new positions in the Kansas City metro. The events will be held on Nov. 3, Nov. 9 and Dec. 8.
