The Kansas Attorney General’s Office and the Kansas Fights Addiction Grant Review Board have awarded more than $6 million in grants to organizations across the state.
The Board awarded over $6 million to 34 organizations as part of its fourth round of funding in support of substance use disorder services across Kansas. Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach named the organizations to receive grants in the latest round of funding.
The latest round prioritized strategies related to prevention, providers and health systems and public safety as well as first responders.
The KFA board planned not to exceed $4 million in funding, however, after reviewing 77 applications, the board agreed to provide more than $2 million in additional funding, according to a release.
Enacted in 2021, the Kansas Fights Addiction Act is administered by the Topeka-based Sunflower Foundation, a non-profit committed to statewide health philanthropy.
In its first two rounds of funding in 2023, the KFA board awarded more than $10 million in support of 59 statewide projects. In the third round of funding announced in December 2024, the KFA board awarded over $8.5 million to support 38 projects.
To date, the KFA board has awarded more than $24.5 million in grant funding.
