Kansas State University is partnering with VanTrust to expand the Olathe campus with science and technology-based buildings to increase lab research and student enrollment.

The Olathe City Council approved a real estate contract and development agreement for the project last week, which would bring a commercial office building to be used for bioanalytical testing, advanced manufacturing, and laboratory purposes related to various animal health and food safety initiatives. These initiatives would further aid in research conducted in the existing educational research building on campus.

Kansas State University-Olathe Innovation Campus, Inc. will lease the facility from Van Trust constructed on approximately 10.95 acres of land inside the Kansas Bioscience Park, just north of the former KBA Venture Accelerator Building at the northwest corner of S. Valley Road and S. Clay Blair Boulevard.

In 2007, the City entered into a Development Agreement with the K-State Olathe campus and the Kansas Bioscience Authority for the development of the Bioscience Park.

According to the development agreement, Van Trust is responsible for paying $306,312 in remaining special assessments levied against the 10.95-acre tract.
