Johnson County Community College to rename performing arts center

After receiving a $1 million donation from a notable donor, the current Carlsen Center for Performing Arts will be renamed as part of the center’s rebranding.

A generous $1 million donation to the Johnson County Community College performing arts center has also prompted its renaming.

The donation was made by Brad and Libby Bergman, longtime supporters of the community college.

Currently named the Carlsen Center, the building will take the new name of Midwest Trust Center after Brad Bergman’s Overland Park-based company Midwest Trust, which he founded.

With a history as former chairman of the JCCC Foundation board, Brad and his wife Libby were also co-chairs of the Some Enchanted Evening Gala, an annual event held to raise money for student scholarships.

The donation from the Bergman’s is intended to support the college’s performing arts series and provide scholarships for creative arts students.
