Though it’s too early to call it a trend, there is some encouraging news out of Johnson County, Kan.
On April 20, the latest date for which data has been provided, there was only one positive COVID-19 test recorded by the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment. Only a few days before, positive tests had been averaging in the double digits daily, until they dropped to a single-digit average on April 18.
Meanwhile, there have been no new hospitalizations for COVID-19 since April 18, according to county data.
Hospital beds at nine area facilities were at 86 percent capacity as of April 21, while intensive-care beds were at 48 percent.
