Indianapolis-based healthcare provider Marathon Health has acquired Cerner Workforce Health Solutions.
Center WHS has a group of onsite and near-site health clinics in the Kansas City metro area. The acquisition will add 21 clients, 35 health centers and 300,000 members to the Marathon Health organization.
The transaction officially closed on Tuesday, August 1.
It will expand Marathon’s footprint in 15 states, including a significant expansion in Chicago, IL; Kansas City, KS; and St. Louis, MO, according to a release.
Marathon will also seek to build upon Cerner’s established capabilities in areas such as Occupational Health and Onsite Pharmacy, as it continues to broaden its service offering.
“We saw in Marathon a like-minded organization that is passionate about its clients and members,” general manager and senior director of Cerner WHS, Stacie Clum said. “I don’t think the fit could be stronger — we have complementary cultures, strategies and capabilities — and I am deeply excited for this next chapter.”
Cerner WHS said its present clients will experience no disruption to their service and that all care teams have been retained, and no changes to teams or services are expected for Marathon Health clients, or ambassadors as a result of the acquisition.
