Kyle Russell joins the Husch Blackwell LLP Kansas City office as its latest partner where he will become a member of the firm’s labor & employment and higher education practices.
Russell joined the firm from Jackson Lewis in Overland Park, where he was of counsel from 2014 to 2016 before becoming a principal in 2017.
Throughout his time at Jackson Lewis, Russell advised and trained clients on employment law issues, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, social media, wage and hour compliance, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family & Medical Leave Act, according to a release.
He will now work with Husch Blackwell’s higher education practice to provide labor & employment counseling for colleges and universities across the Midwest.
“Husch Blackwell is known to have a phenomenal labor & employment group, as well as one of the most well-respected higher education practices nationally,” Russell said.
In 2001, Russell joined Shughart Thomson & Kilroy as an associate for three years before becoming corporate counsel at H&R Block for eight years. In 2013, he joined Spencer Fane Britt & Browne as a litigation attorney for just over a year, according to his LinkedIn page.
Russell earned his political science degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1997. He then earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas in 2000.
“Kyle’s expertise and track record in labor & employment matters is the perfect fit for our clients seeking labor & employment counseling and litigation representation across the Midwest,” Erik Eisenmann, partner and leader of Husch Blackwell’s Labor & Employment practice, said in the release. “His arrival allows us to better serve our clients, and we’re thrilled to have him join Husch Blackwell.”
