H&R Block Hires Chief Information Security Officer

Kansas City-based H&R Block, Inc. has found its new chief information security officer and will be welcoming the new leadership member at the of March.

H&R Block announced Phillip Miller is joining the company as its new vice president and chief information security officer, effective March 31, according to a Tuesday release.

Miller brings with him over 15 years of executive security experience in the retail, manufacturing and technology sectors. Most recently, Miller founded Qurple, LLC—a cybersecurity advisory and consulting company—where he served as vice president and chief information security officer. Before that he was chief information security officer at NetApp and Brooks Brothers. Additionally, he was a principal security advisor for Amazon Web Services from 2019 to 2022.

Miller is the author of “Hacking Success,” a book on information security policy and artificial intelligence.

He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in jurisprudence from Oxford University and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
