HCA Midwest Health has launched a new program in two of its medical centers aimed at training pre-licensure nurses.

The Nurse Apprenticeship Program is based at Overland Park Regional Medical Center and Menorah Medical Center. It will offer essential training, often unavailable to traditional students, allowing aspiring nurses to develop necessary skills while financially supporting their families. HCA Midwest Health is the first health system in Kansas and the Kansas City region to offer this program, according to a Thursday release.

Apprentices can choose from various nursing careers to meet their career goals. They will work alongside healthcare professionals from a range of hospital departments while receiving pay and being eligible for employee benefits.

“As we continue to shape the future of nursing, it is an honor to collaborate with our community, colleges, universities, and state partners who all share a common goal: to provide valuable, long-term solutions that improve healthcare while delivering high-quality care to our community,” HCA Midwest Health division chief nursing executive, Katie Bruels, said in the release.

Upon completing the apprenticeship program, graduates will have the opportunity for full-time employment at any one of seven HCA Midwest Health hospitals or another healthcare organization. Individuals can learn more about the apprenticeship program on the HCA Healthcare Careers website
