The United Way of Greater Kansas City and the United Way of Wyandotte County are set to merge.
The boards of both organizations have decided to combine on July 1 after studying the measure for a year. The United Way of Greater Kansas City services five counties, so the merger would make it a six-county entity.
Since the Greater Kansas City group already also has some overlap, the boards say the combination would be the best way to pool resources. Both chapters currently raise about $30 million annually.
“We are excited to combine the innovative and collaborative work of Wyandotte County with the United Way of Greater Kansas City organization,” said Brent Stewart, CEO of United Way of Greater Kansas City, who is an Ingram’s 250 member. “There are great people and agencies in Wyandotte County who are coming together with us to help United Way serve the needs of everyone in the metro with compassion and care.”
