Missouri Governor Mike Parson will meet with local officials Monday to discuss ways to keep the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals in Missouri.
Parson will attend a meeting in Kansas City with Mayor Quinton Lucas and local leaders from Clay and Jackson counties to discuss options to keep the Chiefs and Royals in Missouri, according to a news release from Parson’s office.
In June, the Kansas House and Senate passed a STAR bond legislation intended to lure both teams across state lines. The law came into effect on July 1, 2024.
Questions arise about whether or not both teams will decide to leave Missouri following the vote for a sales tax extension was denied by Jackson County voters.
