Yesterday during a conference call with governors, President Donald Trump said he would deploy the U.S. military to stop civil unrest, whether or not governors have requested help from the National Guard.
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson on Saturday requested that help, and the Guard is reportedly policing the protests taking place in Kansas City.
And while other governors took issue with Trump’s remarks, Parson reportedly defended them, saying: “He said that people needed to take the action and the resources they need to stop the looting and breaking in the private business, stealing, throwing rocks at police officers shooting people all this is what he was referring to was the criminal activity. He wasn’t talking about protesters that were law abiding protesters that was never what he was saying about that.”
