William H. Danforth of left behind a remarkable legacy following his death at the age of 94 over the weekend.
The former chancellor and trustee of Washington University in St. Louis is credited with bringing the university to a nationally recognized level through several major capital campaigns and the accomplishment of an increased endowment, among other things.
Danforth’s work spanned nearly seven decades at Washington University, serving as chancellor for 24 years of his total 65 years there.
Retiring in 1995, Danforth was one of the longest-serving chancellors in the U.S.
Danforth died on Saturday, Sept. 16 at his home in Ladue, Mo.
