First Federal Bank of Kansas City has hired Jenny Michaels as its next chief risk officer.
Michaels succeeds Mike Sidebottom, who plans to retire after 42 years at the bank, according to a release Thursday.
With 15 years of experience in law, financial services and practice as a licensed attorney in Missouri, Kansas and South Carolina Michaels will be responsible for leading the bank’s risk and compliance functions.
Her legal experience includes representing financial institutions in lender liability, foreclosure, employment matters and vendor contract negotiations.
“The bank has a strong history of effectively navigating risk and a solid reputation for providing best-in-class products and services to the Kansas City area,” Michaels said in the release.
Michaels previously served as CRO for South Carolina-based Safe Federal Credit Union. She served in that role from March 2017 to Sep. 2020 before advancing to senior vice president and chief administrative officer for just over a year, according to her LinkedIn page. She also served in another CAO role for REV Federal Credit Union from Oct. 2021 to April 2023.
